Book Review: Second Helpings

Recently I finished the book Second Helpings by Megan McCafferty. This book is the sequel to the book Sloppy Firsts. I really liked these books. I liked the characters and the problems. Even though I could predict some of the things that were going to happen, I still really liked it. I also found myself yelling at the character for making the wrong decisions but she corrects them in the end. (Hope I didn't give to much away). Anyway I am recommending these books for you to read. Their shorts reads and kept me entertained.

Sloppy Firsts

Synopsis: When her best friend, Hope, moves away from Pineville, New Jersey, 16-year-old Jessica Darling is devastated. Jessica is a fish out of water at school, a stranger at home, and now—with the only person with whom she could really communicate gone—more lost than ever. How is she supposed to deal with the boy-and-shopping-crazy girls at school, her dad’s obsession with her track meets, and her nonexistent love life? Sloppy Firsts is an insightful, true-to-life look at Jessica’s predicament, from the dark days following Hope’s departure to her hopelessly mixed-up feelings about the intelligent and mysterious bad-boy who works his way into her life. Sloppy Firsts is right in line with some of the great teen crossover works of popular culture, like The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and is sure to appeal to readers of all ages who appreciate the inherent humor of high school angst.

My View: I liked this book. I couldn't put it down. And the ending kept you wanting more. Good thing there's a number 2 book I'm reading now called Second Helpings.

Breaking Dawn

Synopsis
BREAKING DAWN, the hotly anticipated fourth and final book in the bestselling crossover teen vampire series Twilight, wraps up some very important questions in the gripping and wildly romantic story of Bella Swan. Split into three sections, one of which is narrated by werewolf Jacob Black, the story opens with Bella driving along, thinking about her impending wedding to Edward. Although it seems that she's about to get exactly what she wants, Bella has no idea what lays in store for her: a near-death transformation, an all-out vampire war, and many painfully divided loyalties.

Well I finally finished the Twilight saga. I think the beginning was rushed. And I'm not really sure I liked the ending I cant really say to much because I don't want to ruin anything. But the middle of the book I thought was pretty good.

I have decided that I like reading the book before watching the movie, otherwise I know whats going to happen in the book.

Eclipse - The book

I don't think I did a review on the second book in the series and for that I apologize. But when I think about it I think I would of typed some what the same thing I did for the first book. So once again sorry for that.

Now for this book. I found that I liked this book more than I liked the first two books. Maybe because I liked how Jacob was more a part of Bella's life in this book. If you cant tell I'm for team Jacob. Who doesn't want a giant fuzzy dog to cuddle with that will protect you? But anyway. I think this book did a bit better job with detail. The fight might of been rushed in the end and dragged getting there in the beginning but all in all this was a good book.

Twilight

So my roommate has been bugging me to read the Twilight series. And she said I couldn't start another book until I read the series.

So I started the books because maybe I was curious to see what the frenzy is all about with these books.

I'm not really even into the movies even though they are kinda good especially for the half naked guys.

But anyway. I found the first book a fast read or maybe I'm just trying to get through the book.

It wasn't to bad but nothing to scream about. So then I watched the movie to compare the differences.

This is where Ive come to hate my roommate for it.

Every time there was a difference between the book and the movie I couldn't help but to say out loud "nope that's wrong". I literally was sitting in my living room and saying that to myself every time the movie changed from the book.

And I do hate when people who have read a book and go see the movie that they'll turn to me or whoever and say "that wasn't in the book". It annoys me.

O no I've become a hypocrite!

Kiss of Death

I just finished what I hopes isn't the last book in the series called The Morganville Vampire series by Rachel Caine. The last book is called Kiss of Death. Its the eighth book in the series and it blew me away.

Now I recommend you read the entire series to know everything that happens. Her writing style just lures you in to keep reading and find out what happens to Claire and her friends.

It does deal mainly with vampires but there are alot of twists and turns that you don't really notice or at least I didn't.

So I'm recommending this series to you. They are shorter fast reads which I found kind of nice.

I just wanted to point out a good book for those that like to read.

The Color Purple. Part Two.

So I've finished the book The Color Purple by Alice Walker.
I never did find out why she never uses a mans last name but I guess that's not a very important detail.
I felt the book was a little less interesting in the end. Now for those who haven't read it I'm trying not to type anything that might ruin it, so bare with me.
I mean it started out with a little drama and things that you weren't really expecting to read, but towards the end I felt like everything slowed down.
Maybe this just wasn't my type of book. Yes it was a good book and yes I'd probably refer it to other readers but this story really didn't do it for me.

The color purple. Part one.

Im starting to read The Color Purple.
So far I can undestand most of it. Its simple enough.
Alot of it is wrong. The beating and all of the abuse. But I guess thats how it was back then.
But what I'm not really sure of is why she doesnt say any mans last name. Does she tell you later on?
And does she ever learn how to spell and speak correctly?
Maybe I'm just hoping for to much.
But I can say so far Im starting to like the book and how its written. Its starting to draw me in.
And PLEASE dont ruin it for me.

Leaving Paradise

I'm just going to randomly throw this out there.

The book Leaving Paradise by Simone Elkeles was a fantastic read. Going back and forth between the two main characters point of views was something different and kept my attention.

You weren't really sure how the story was going to end or what was going to happen.

So if your into books and are looking for something new to read this is an excellent book.
